After growing up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinois, where he was born, Hurd migrated to Nashville, Tennessee. Hurd met Maren Morris, the woman who would eventually become his wife when composing the song “Last Turn Home” for Tim McGraw. 

Hurd penned “Lonely Tonight,” Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe’s No. 1 Country Airplay single in 2015.

2017 will see the release of Hurd’s first album is scheduled to be released. Hurd is a Sony Music Nashville signee. The main song from his self-titled EP, “We Do Us,” has received over two million plays on Spotify.

Hurd was listed as one of the “Artists You Need to Know” by Rolling Stone Country. & CMT listed him as one of their 2016 “Listen Up” Artists. Hurd has also done tours with Morris, Florida Georgia Line, Chase Rice, and Thomas Rhett. The first song Hurd released was “Love in a Bar.” In January 2020, he started a tour with Adam Doleac and Niko Moon to promote his Platonic EP.

Hurd released his greatest-selling song in 2021. His debut duet with his wife Maren Morris was “Chasing After You.” The song debuted at No. 23 on the Hot 100 and is his first top 10 achievement on the country charts. The lead single from his album Pelago, which was made available on October 15, 2021, is this song.
